Our Story

Our incredible journey began over 60 years ago with Frank Carbone’s hoagie shop in Germantown, right after he returned from military service in the late 1950s. In 1972, Frank moved the shop and rebranded it as Pudge's, quickly becoming a beloved staple in County. Following Frank’s passing in 2000, his daughter Barbara and her husband Mike proudly carried on the Pudge’s tradition, expanding to multiple locations! After selling their last shop in 2024, the Williams family held tight to the Pudge's name that stood for quality and hospitality.

 

Now, the amazing Pudge's legacy finds a vibrant new home in Gloucester City at 34 N. Burlington. Originally a shoe store in 1890 and transforming into Leisinger’s Saloon in 1912, featuring the ornate bar installed by German immigrant Joseph Fred Leisinger. In 1937, Max Wateradt, also a German immigrant, took over and renamed it Max’s Café, later becoming Max’s Seafood Café by the late 1970s. After closing in 1998, the building was fully restored  in 2001. In November 2025, a new chapter began with the establishment of Pudge’s Pub.
